Good Food Choices for Children
Wholegrain cereals
Forget the coco pops and nutrigrain!!! Good quality muesli, oats, millet and buckwheat are more nutritious.

Wholemeal bread
Contains much more fibre, nutrients and substance than white bread.

Fruit and vegetables
The more the better.

Natural yoghurt with fruit mixed in
This avoids the excessive amounts of sugar found in many commercial flavoured yoghurts. Otherwise choose a good quality yoghurt with good levels of acidophilus and low sugar and additives.

Eggs
Great source of protein and vitamin A.

Fish
Good source of protein. Choose salmon and sardines for good levels of omega 3 fatty acids.

Cheese
Choose good quality cheese with minimal processing. Avoid cheese sticks and any cheese not found in the fridge.

Nut butters
These butters are a high protein source and contain good fats (if not intolerant or allergic).

Avocado
High nutrients and good fats.

Homemade muffins, cakes and slices
No artificial additives, can be made with a variety of ingredients, you know what they are eating, the kids can get involved.
