- Reduce intake of refined sugar and highly processed foods - these make the immune system sluggish.
- Reduce fatty foods - especially fried foods, and hidden fats in pastries, chips, cakes and biscuits.
- Increase intake of omega 3 fatty acids - flaxseed, fish (salmon, mackerel, herring, trout, sardines are best).
- Opt for wholemeal products such as breads and pastas - more nutrient and fibre dense.
- Include fibre in the diet - fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, legumes, whole grains - high in vitamins and minerals.
- Eat several smaller meals per day to help ease burden on digestive system.
- Reduce intake of coffee and caffeine products such as Cola drinks.
- Reduce soft drinks as they leach vital nutrients from the body.
- Eat in peaceful surrounds without TV or reading.
- Eat a wide variety of foods from the different food groups.
