Focus on the immune system
What weakens the immune system?
  • Allergies
     
  • Constant contact with viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites
     
  • Medications - long term or frequent use of medications such as antibiotics and cortisone
     
  • Negative emotions - stress, anger, depression and grief
     
  • Diet - high in processed foods, sugar, colours, preservatives (these increase toxins in the body and depletes the body of important nutrients needed for immunity)
     
  • Nutritional deficiencies - Healthy immune system needs Vitamins A,C,E, B’s, Zinc, selenium, iron, essential fatty acids and protein
     
  • Lack of sleep

     
What strengthens the immune system?
  • Wholegrains - oats, wholemeal bread (unless gluten intolerance), brown rice, wholemeal pasta, millet, barley
     
  • Fruit and vegetables
     
  • Variety of protein - eggs, legumes, nuts and seeds, fish, chicken, meat
     
  • Healthy fats - avocados, nuts, seeds, fish, flaxseed, olive oil
